NISSAN REPORTS MAY 2009 SALES IN EUROPE
ROLLE, Switzerland (June 5th, 2009) - Nissan in Europe has reported 37,891 sales in May, representing a decrease of 30% year on year.
Despite the introduction of scrappage incentives in many western European countries, the TIV continues to decline versus 2008 (-21% versus last year).
“Scrap incentives are boosting customer demand in some markets in Western Europe but despite this the TIV trend continues downward for the foreseeable future. Our Sales performance continues to meet our expectations and this should be further boosted with the full launch of Pixo in major markets in the next few months”, said Francois Goupil de Bouillé, Vice President - Sales for Nissan in Europe.
Key markets highlights:
Despite a TIV drop of 27%, the UK maintained their volume versus last year and improved market share.
France maintained its market share as well with 1.8%
Spain improves market share year & year (3.5% vs 3.3%)
Italy puts up good results by improving both its volume (+13.2%) & its market share (2.6 % vs 2.4% last year)
Belgium improves market share year on year 1.9% vs 1.8%
